What is a knuckle-dragging intellectual?

I coined this title for myself as a sort of all in one descriptor for the very complex person that is me.  People tend to leap to conclusions based on snippets of my interests, politics, appearance or other superficial features that don't truly reflect who I am as a person, so I created a new label just for me.

When people hear the term "intellectual" they tend to think of some chess playing shut in that may think deep thoughts but who are often disconnected from reality.  I conformed to this stereotype more in my younger days, but as I learned more of the world I began to reject it and go out of my way to distance myself from the image of the Ivory Tower.

A knuckle-dragger to most people is the kind of guy that you wouldn't want to meet in a dark alley, but you probably wouldn't fear their argumentative skills or cerebral abilities.

Combining the two leads to a fair approximation of me, a guy that lives for books and information, yet also trains in martial arts, carries a gun, and if you did happen to meet in a dark alley you'd probably check any ill intent you may have been thinking about.

All that, and damn good looking too.

I intend to use this platform as sort of a soapbox for some of my ideas and musings, I possess an unusual set of experiences and logical tools, and my take on things can often seem radical or outside the bounds of normal thought.  I've long since learned that I don't think like most people, and aside from a love of breaking stereotypes I enjoy showing people an alternate view of the world, one that often seems a bit off kilter until thought through.
